A Weekend at Skull Creek Studios: Crafting Our Originals
This past weekend was one for the books as we hit the road to Skull Creek Studios to record two of our original songs, Oh Baby and Splash of Morgan. If you’ve been following our journey, you know we’re all about bringing back that raw, authentic energy to rockabilly and classic rock, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience than what we had with Aspen Beveridge at Skull Creek Studios.
The Process: Capturing the Sound of East Side of 2nd
The decision to work with Aspen wasn’t random—it was intentional. We wanted someone who understood our vibe, someone who could take the wild and fun energy of our live shows and bottle it up into something that sounds just as electrifying on a recording. Aspen delivered beyond our expectations.
From the moment we stepped into the studio, it felt like we were in the right place. Aspen’s approach to music is relaxed yet focused, and he has an incredible ability to make you feel comfortable while pushing you to get the best out of every note. He took the time to understand what we wanted, offering input that felt like an extension of our own ideas. It wasn’t just about recording; it was about creating, and Aspen made it easy to trust the process.
The Tracks: Splash of Morgan and Oh Baby
We started with Splash of Morgan, our rowdy party anthem. The goal was to make it sound just as wild and fun as it feels when we play it live. Aspen nailed it, capturing the grit and energy of the song while adding a polished edge that gives it radio-ready potential.
Next up was Oh Baby, a 50s-inspired love song that’s been a hit at our gigs. It’s a bit different from Splash of Morgan—more playful, with a touch of humor—but Aspen understood exactly how to balance its retro vibe with a modern twist.
The Plan: What’s Next
We’re excited to announce that Splash of Morgan will be our debut single, set to release soon. It’s the perfect introduction to East Side of 2nd—a song that screams fun, energy, and everything we’re about as a band. After that, we’ll follow up with Oh Baby, giving you a taste of our softer, more romantic side while still keeping it lively.
But we’re not stopping there. The goal is to gig hard, share these songs live, and work on putting together a full EP that captures the essence of East Side of 2nd.
A Shoutout to Aspen Beveridge
We can’t wrap this up without giving a huge shoutout to Aspen Beveridge and Skull Creek Studios. Working with Aspen was everything we hoped for and more. His understanding of our vibe, his attention to detail, and his ability to bring out the best in each track made this an unforgettable experience. If you’re a band looking for someone who gets it, Aspen is your guy.
Stay Tuned
As we hit the road, play gigs, and share new music, we hope you’ll join us for the ride. Keep an eye out for the release of Splash of Morgan, and don’t miss a chance to see us live. This is just the beginning for East Side of 2nd, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next.
